Mo Gan Shan is a famous mountain near Hangzhou in Zhejiang Province. In addition to this rare tea, the area is recognized for the creation of a famous Chinese sword Mo Xie Gan Jiang over 2,500 years ago from which the name of the tea is derived.
Only a few older tea makers know how to make this complex tea. In fact, we were fortunate to be able to order this traditionally made tea during a recent trip to Zhejiang.
This high altitude tea grows in a remote forest area and is picked early in the spring. Its flavor is similar to green tea, but with a gentle, light floral aroma and mild sweet taste.
