Also known as Golden Lily Oolong, Jinxuan is another new varietal developed in Taiwan from the 1990s.
Processed in traditional Dong Ding Oolong style, it is another lightly fermented Oolong tea.
The tea starts with a Baozhong-like floral aroma, and finishes with a smooth and sweet creamy flavor. Our Formosa Alishan Jinxuan is slightly different to our Lugu Jinxuan due to the different elevations of the producing areas. Alisan Jinxuan has a stronger creamy aroma, while Lugu Jinxuan is dominated by a floral aroma. Both are excellent light oolong teas.
The tea leaves need to be fully expanded in the teapot or cup, and remember not to put too much loose tea to avoid over packing. One tip to keep in mind is the amount of dry loose tea should be around 1/5 or smaller than the tea ware or container. After brewing, the tea leaves will expand to 80%-90% of the container. Once you get familiar with the tea, you may explore your own brewing method.
Tea ware: Gongfu tea ware or Yixing pots are best suited for Oolong tea; glassware, lidded cups (gaiwan), or porcelain tea ware are also good personal choices.
